recorded CD-R indcates that it is DVD-R on burner

When I create a blank CD-R or DVD-R disk ( using full image option) and insert it into the recorder, it shows up as a CD-R and DVD-R correspondingly. But once I copy one file to the virtual CD-R) and re-insert it, it shows up as a DVD-R on the explorer icon. The virtual CDR-R files size seem correct at about 700 MB.
